21 Nov INNOVATIVE AND TECHNOLOGY AT THE AACM CONGRESS
SAI PRESENTED INNOVATIVE AND STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY FOR HAND AND UPPER EXTREMITY SURGERY AT THE 43rd CONFERENCE ON HAND SURGERY
From October 24-26 at the premises of Universidad Católica de Buenos Aires the most relevant meeting for Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeons and Specialists was held. This conference was attended by world-class academics from Europe and Latin America. In our booth we presented, as exclusive representatives of CONMED and Carbofix, their latest devices.
Once again South America Implants attended an Argentine Conference in this field to showcase and feature to the Argentine scientific community CONMED and Carbofix new devices. The product lines featured represent the latest world cutting edge technology which facilitates hand and upper extremity surgical procedures, thus improving therapeutic results. We also showcased SAI brand products, specifically intended for hand and upper extremity surgery.
Throughout the 3-day conference, at our specially designed booth, we also introduced and performed demos of CONMED and Carbofix lines of products and also provided information on placement techniques. All the novelties caught the attention and interest of the attending professionals.
It was the first time in Argentina that specialists had the chance to get to know Carbofix products. Carbofix is a brand with Israeli technology that manufactures 100% “Carbon Fiber” plates, intended to replace steel or titanium plates. We showcased proximal humerus plates, distal radio plates and locking compression plates (LCP).
This is a true novelty that will allow surgical procedures with carbon fiber implants to form the bony callus faster and achieve greater fatigue resistance, thus avoiding plate breakage in poor fracture healing. Another advantage of Carbofix devices is that the carbon fiber is radiolucent, which allows to see the trace of the fracture through the implant. It does not cause any interference with radiotherapy; CT and MRI can be performed freely. These are polyaxial plates that do not produce cold fusion or metallosis.
In our booth we also showcased CONMED products. We presented “anchors” for rotator cuff and shoulder instability surgical procedures, Y-Knot suture anchor technology for biocomposite materials and models with impacted knotless anchors.
For hand surgical procedures, we performed hands-on demonstrations of the 1.5 mm Ultrafix Micromite anchor. This anchor is innovative for its small size; it is made of titanium, with HiFi 2-0 suture and needles. This anchor requires simple placement and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
Regarding disposable products, we introduced shaver tips for large joints, full radius resectors and also a selection of small joints products. It was a very rewarding experience for SAI to attend the 43th Conference in Argentina last October. We achieved our goal: we featured world cutting-edge technological developments and provided information and advice to a large number of physicians to enhance patients’ treatment.
